How to check the Authenticity of the New Iraqi Dinar

The New Iraqi Dinar is printed by the De La Rue Corporation, one of the world’s largest currency printers in the world printing over 150 world currencies. The dinar is available in 50, 250, 1000, 5000, 10000, and 25000 notes.

Below are some of the security features to look for:

• Metallic ink (25K note)
• Embedded security thread (25 K note)
• Horse head watermark embedded into each note (all notes)
• Raised lettering
• Unique Arabic serial numbers
• Denomination’s value glows under an ultraviolet light
• The eight-sided symbol in the bottom left hand corner should change color from purple to green when viewed at different angles.

Goof info because mine was purchaed from ebay. Everything looks authentic but was wondering if anyone thinks or has found that some being sold at fake. Have to be aware that the old "Sadaam" dinars are being sold on ebay

Any of the Saddam Dinar are worth nothing. Even some of those are counterfeit. I have found them in Iraq and in the USA. Most in the USA are counterfeit. If the Saddam bills were presented as the current currency used in Iraq I would report them to ebay and to the FBI. Selling such items and misrepresentation via the Internet violates Federal law.

I always wants to know if the markers that we use to check the USA bills are good to probe in foreign currency?

I tried and they become brown, from Ali and from the Mechanics Bank.

The number 2 and 3 in arabic are very, very close to looking the same.... It is a backward 7 with one small dip at the top of the backward 7 is a 2.... and there is two small dips at the top of the backward 7 is a 3... Hope this helps.

They are not duplicates. There are very small differences. Like a little stroke at the top of the 7 etc.

I just finished checking all my serial numbers against each other. all of mine are unique to each other. but some of the arabic numbers look really close to each other. some of my currency looks to have the same number, but then apron closer examination, they are different. Almost gave me a heart attack. :-)

I called the broker and mentioned the numbers looked very close to each other and some appeared to be the same....they suggested that I use a magnifying glass to examine because the #2 and #3 symbol are almost identical except for a small "squiggly" line....they were right....I feel much better now

Gooday from Australia Blanche, Thanks for keeping us up to speed,in the dinar....We purchased through a Certified Agent of Dinar Banker downunder, and all purchases were accompanied by a certificate of Authenticity, and apart from checking the usual markings, a delarue machine will be our final checkout when cashing in....ours are all authenticated best regards Ted

good day Blanche, I bought a uv light today to check out the authenity of my dinar notes. ( I had to explain to several people in the age range of mid twenties what a uv black lite was! LOL ) I did noticed that pretty much all of the markings that looked authenic, except in the black lite i didn't notice anything different. Using your guidelines, i think i was to notice the glowing of the demonations. Do u think i should panic and freak out?? Just kidding! But I am concerned. Carol

Actually we never questioned if they were authentic or not just assume they are. I certainly hope so. We are just wondering if they will ever come to be! We think it is a farce and we invested for nothing!

I would be happy to buy them! I don't understand people that say this...... it is a currency exchange! You pay x amount to exchange US for IQD, then you pay x amount to exchange from IQD back to US. So, in the end, IF for whatever reason you don't want to wait for the RV, you resell, and lose a COUPLE OF DOLLARS?!

Thanks Blanche, Mine are real, but I had to check. I think the first thing I'll do is get my initial investment back, then I might buy a new fishing boat, then buy my wife some nice jewelery or something and then sit on it till it goes to 3.5 before buying anything else. Thanks for this succinct and well put information. The Dinar I have seems to exhibit all of the indicators your advisory mentions and I do feel comforted in that respect. Certainly, I consider my source of Dinar to be reputable but it never hurts to check.

Blanche, I appreciate the info. on the Dinar. Since purchasing, mine are in a bank safety deposit box, so have not examined them. However, I purchased them with an order from my bank to a bank in N.Y. so I believe they are authentic. Anxiously awaiting the RV & cash in.

Hello Blanche, First of all I'm very happy to have made contact with you. Finally somebody that can help us out. I do have a question though. I bought $2,000.00 worth of ID several years ago from GID and I received 80- 25,000 ID Bills. They all checked out to be good under the guidelines posted. My question is this. The way I understand it if the ID Rv's at the expected rate then each one of those 25,000 ID notes would be worth $75,000.00 for a total of over 7 Billion dollars! Is that possible??? My wife says that she thinks when it does happen they will drop three (3) zeros off each bill and that will cause my total investment to be about $7,000.00. It's not bad but is this possible?
